OFFICERS

ASCE San Jose YMF is pleased to present its 2023-2024 officers. Officers take an active role in providing members value through the planning and execution of professional development, networking, and community outreach events.

Monica Tanner, PE
​​Past President

Monica Tanner (Fiedler-Ross) serves as the Past President for the San Jose YMF chapter. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science in civil engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 2016. She is currently enrolled part-time in the SJSU Masters of Science in Transportation Management and is serving as the President of the MTI Student Association.
​Monica is a part of the transit design and planning teams at Kimley-Horn in San Jose. She’s passionate about the transit projects she works on in the Bay Area and beyond. When she’s not working, Monica enjoys spending time with her husband and their new son, cooking, and visiting gardens and outdoor areas.

Crystal Boado, PE
President
​

Crystal Mena Boado, PE has 6+ years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus in water resource, where she has been involved various phases in design projects. She also works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to perform civil site designs for public and private projects. Crystal has actively served in several roles within ASCE San Jose Branch and San Jose Younger Member Forum (YMF). She encourages members to share ideas, build connections and remember to have fun while being involved.

Amer Zreika, EIT
​Vice President 

Amer has obtained his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering from San Jose State University. Presently, he holds the position of Assistant Engineer at the City of Millbrae. Furthermore, he brings a wealth of professional experience, having served as a Project Engineer at BCI for a period of 3 years and as a Land Development Design Engineer at BKF Engineers for 2 years. In his leisure time, Amer takes pleasure in activities such as hiking, public speaking, gaming, and karaoke.

Andrea Mosqueda, PE
​Secretary

Andrea Mosqueda, PE is a Project Engineer at Ardurra where she has contributed to and led design efforts for numerous general civil, transportation, stormwater, and structural engineering projects across California. Andrea holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Stanford University and an M.S. in Civil Engineering with a Structural Emphasis from CSULB. In addition to her roles with the San Jose Branch, Andrea serves as Secretary for the San Jose Younger Member Forum (SJ YMF) and Vice President of the San Francisco Section. Andrea is a proud Rotarian and an active member of the Rotary eClub of Silicon Valley.

Kirill Demyanenko, PMP, EIT
Treasurer

Kirill A. Demyanenko is the University Liaison Officer for the San Jose Branch. Kirill graduated from San Jose State University with a master’s degree in civil engineering & majored in construction engineering. As a student, he held student officer positions for the SJSU ASCE, AGC, and Chi Epsilon chapters. Kirill is currently working for ANCHOR as a Project Manager for the public sector in the Bay Area. During his free time, Kirill enjoys reading novels, spending time with his siblings, and relaxing in his small patio garden.

Jose Garcia
Internal Relations

Jose Alfredo Garcia Rubio is the Internal Relations Chair for the San Jose Young Member Forum. Jose graduated from Walla Walla University from the state of Washington with a BS in Civil Engineering. While at WWU, Jose took different leadership roles throughout campus. Jose grew up in Glendale, Arizona, and moved to the Bay Area with his fiancée in search of better opportunities. When he is not studying he is enjoying the great outdoors hiking or watching a good movie with family and friends. He likes to cook and is always willing to try new dishes in the kitchen. Helping others and having a good time is the best way that he spends his days.

Jose started working as a Project Engineer for Core Builders GC, in December 2021. His goal is to be a Project Manager after working for 5 years. He worked for ENGEO for almost 6 months where he got the opportunity to meet many hard working people. Before working in the construction industry he helped his father in his Landscaping and Handyman business. He is excited to explore the Bay Area and meet fellow Civil Engineers.

Helen Van de Pol
Social

Helen Van de Pol is the 2023-2024 Social Chair for the ASCE San José Younger Member Forum. Helen graduated from San José State University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering (SJSU ‘16, Spartan Up!). As a student at SJSU, she was involved in AkbayanSJSU and Engineering Ambassadors Program (EAP), and held officer roles in Engineers Without Borders (EWB), Chi Epsilon (XE Fall ‘14), and American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
​Shortly after graduation, she joined the City of San José‘s Airport Department, managing and delivering Capital Improvement Projects for the Norman Y. Mineta San José International Airport (SJC). In her free time, she enjoys roller skating, camping, gardening, and learning about urban forestry and California native plants.

Hope Laborin, EIT
University Liaison  |  Santa Clara University

Hope Laborin is the University Liaison for Santa Clara University for the San Jose Younger Member Forum. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Santa Clara University. Hope currently works as an Associate Engineer at MNS Engineers in the water group. Outside of work Hope's two favorite activities with friends are golfing and board games.
