Crystal Mena, EIT

Crystal Mena, EIT is the Social Chair and the Legislative Chair for the San Jose Younger Member Forum. Crystal works at Schaaf & Wheeler, where she works on projects in hydrology, hydraulics, storm water design and hydraulic modeling. Crystal has over 3+ years of work experience on storm drain systems for flood risk management and compliance purposes. Crystal earned her M.S. in Civil Engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and her B.S. in Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Irvine. Prior to working in industry, Crystal conducted research on heavy metals in asphalt and its effects on local water bodies, while being a teaching assistant at Cal Poly Pomona.

Crystal's involvement with ASCE began in 2016, where she has held various positions, including Secretary and Treasure, in ASCE OC YMF until moving to the Bay Area. She has continued her involvement with ASCE by joining the San Jose YMF as Social Chair and Legislative Chair. Her goals in the positions are to develop wonderful friendships, given back to the community and for the civil industry to stay informed about legislative activities. During her free time, Crystal is exploring her creative and culinary sides by working on her new food blog. Her goal is to use her platform to share her philosophy and journey with food.
